Hino expands Hybird Electric truck range
Hino Australia are adding more options to their 300 Series Built to Go Hybrid Electric range, with new Alloy Tray and TradeAce models available in dealerships from July, joining the 700+ examples of these cleaner, more fuel efficient trucks that are already on Australian roads.
“Rising fuel prices and an increased focus from customers wanting to minimise their environmental impact has seen sales of our Hybrid Electric light-duty truck soar,” said Daniel Petrovski, Department Manager – Product Strategy for Hino Australia.
“The introduction of new Alloy Tray and TradeAce Built to Go models to our Hybrid Electric range offers customers a high quality, cost effective and versatile drive-away solution that can reduce business operating costs from day one. Recent real-world trials comparing the Hino Hybrid Electric truck against a diesel equivalent revealed a 22% reduction in fuel use and CO2 emissions.”
As the electric motor replaces the diesel engine’s starter motor and alternator, Hybrid Electric customers save money in maintenance costs as well as fuel costs, while the regenerative braking reduces the use of service brakes and increases the life of the brakes, all while charging the Hybrid batteries.
Furthermore, the Hybrid Electric model offers claimed savings in maintenance costs of up to 16 per cent compared to a conventional diesel truck, according to Hino.
The new Hino 300 Series Built to Go Hybrid Electric TradeAce models are fitted with a Hino Genuine aluminium tray, ladder racks and a Hino Genuine premium Bullbar (Wide Cab) or nudge bar (Standard Cab).
The new 300 Series Alloy Tray range features the same base tray body specification as the TradeAce models, but without the ladder racks and nudge/bull bar.
Ranging from 616 Standard and Wide Cab 4.5 tonne GVM car-licenced models, through to the 716 Wide Cab with a 6.5 tonne GVM, the 300 Series Built to Go Hybrid Electric trucks use a lightweight Power Control Unit that encompasses the battery, inverter, Engine Control Unit and DC-DC Converter
Hino’s N04C-WR four cylinder common-rail injected turbo-diesel engine produces 150hp (110kW) and 470Nm of torque, which is delivered in combination with the electric motor, with maximum torque available at a very low 1200rpm. The standard six-speed automated transmission has the electric drive motor coupled to it, resulting in quicker gear shifts and smoother take-offs.
The Hino 300 Series Hybrid Electric light-duty range is driven by Toyota Group technology that’s been proven in millions of hybrid vehicles worldwide.
Like all Hybrid Electric models, the new Built to Go arrivals will feature Hino SmartSafe, a safety package of advanced driver-assist technologies that include a Pre-Collision System with Autonomous Emergency Braking, Pedestrian Detection and Lane Departure Warning systems. This is in addition to Vehicle Stability Control, a reversing camera, dual SRS airbags, four-wheel disc brakes, UN ECE R-29 cab strength certified cab and hill start assist.
The 300 Series Hybrid Electric range is supported by Hino Advantage, a suite of business solutions designed to reduce costs over the life of the vehicle. This includes a 5 Year Warranty, 5 Years Roadside Assist, capped price servicing, Hino Genuine Parts, Hino finance options and customer support provisions via the Hino Customer Support Centre.
