IVECO supports OzHarvest
With cost-of-living pressures hitting hard for so many Australians, charity providers like OzHarvest that bring fresh, nutritious food to those in need are feeling the squeeze, too. IVECO are doing their bit to help, managing OzHarvest’s fleet of 16 Daily delivery vans. In addition, IVECO will look to expand this partnership into new areas, too.
“OzHarvest plays such an important role in the community, and with budgetary stress affecting many Australians, the charity’s work is more important than ever,” said IVECO ANZ Managing Director, Michael May.
This latest initiative continues an association between OzHarvest and IVECO that dates back to 2016.
“IVECO is delighted to be contributing to OzHarvest’s programs,” May added. “And we’re excited to explore other opportunities between our two organisations along our joint goals, including our shared sustainability values and desire to reduce inequality and protect diversity and vulnerable groups.”
Australia’s leading food rescue operation, OzHarvest, supply 200,000 meals annually to people in need, through their Food Rescue program. Along with stopping many Australians from going hungry, OzHarvest claim their programs save 100,000kg of nutritious food from going into landfill, which also prevents 660,000kg of greenhouse gas emissions from such waste.
Founded two decades ago by social entrepreneur, Ronni Kahn AO, OzHarvest today serves 1,900 charities across Australia, including homelessness services, school breakfast programs, domestic violence refuges, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander programs and community food pantries – all of which service Australians facing food insecurity.
OzHarvest operate 16 Daily vans; a fleet that will now be managed by IVECO as part of this latest initiative, ensuring these comfortable, safe and spacious vehicles continue to deliver much-needed food to Australians in need every day.
OzHarvest’s National Partnerships Manager, Lisa Dainty, said the support from IVECO was vital in allowing the charity provider to continue its work.
“The demand for food relief is the highest we've experienced. Throughout our network of 1,900 charities, 73 per cent have reported an increase in demand in the last six months - more people than ever need our help,” Dainty said.
“OzHarvest vans are critical to the work we do, so having IVECO support us to manage the fleet and have it operating at its best is fantastic.
“OzHarvest relies on generous support from like-minded partners – we welcome the IVECO partnership and look forward to working closely together to make sure we get good food to those who need it most.”
